<span style="font-size: large;">It's that time of year again for the annual Dineout Vancouver (culinary events, choose from hundreds of sensational restaurants</span> <span style="font-size: large;">). This is actually my first year of trying this event, so I was quite excited. My friends decided on trying Hamilton Street Grill in Yaletown because we were all going to $38 restaurants later on and we wanted something with a $28 menu this time. I'm glad they made this choice because I've always wanted to try this restaurant. Our reservation was perfect and our table was ready right at the reservation time. The restaurant started off not that busy as it was early, but as the night went on, it was very lively inside, there were lots of couples, groups of friends, families, all trying the Dineout Vancouver menu.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We were given some bread and little bacon "sandwiches" to start off. </span><br />
<br />

</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Both were free but they were actually really good. The bread was very soft. The bacon "sandwich" had a thin piece of bacon squeezed in between, along with what I think is butter. It was warm and very soft, and the bacon was still crispy. Very nice to start the meal.</span><br />

This was definitely something new for me. By that, I mean the taste of the soup. You could definitely taste the curry, but it wasn't spicy. It reminded me of eating Curry Rice but with just the curry sauce! I liked this one though.</span></span><br />

I got medium rare as the temperature, and I thought that the meat was still a little stiff, but I liked it. The German butter potatoes (top of the picture) were okay, nothing special in my opinion, I would have preferred mashed potatoes. The seasonal vegetables, I did not really like the beans because they were not soft enough for me. But overall, the beef with the sauce was pretty delicious.</span></span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim7RawIDazIz0EthSI9ybE6KSHhXXPd-I1Smvvwg8ANCNkyF9y-lThmBOCVxyNjDY-b2R4h8ZcZFmgJoby0r1nWpxVA8Hx4sbf8RIr7P5z9KWxaYkksHkmTfYd68An5Hqu1mbmT08_Bmc/s1600/IMG_3071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim7RawIDazIz0EthSI9ybE6KSHhXXPd-I1Smvvwg8ANCNkyF9y-lThmBOCVxyNjDY-b2R4h8ZcZFmgJoby0r1nWpxVA8Hx4sbf8RIr7P5z9KWxaYkksHkmTfYd68An5Hqu1mbmT08_Bmc/s320/IMG_3071.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;"><span class="dineout-menu-field"><span class="dineout-value">For the dessert, I got the Candy Bar Terrine, Chantilly Cream, burnt demerara sugar toffee. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it, but I found that I really liked this one. It was like a big mix of taste of a little everything. The toffee was really interesting because it was a hard sweet thing inside the chocolate tasting black toffee. I splattered the cream all over black "thing" and it was a good mix LOL</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span class="dineout-menu-field"><span class="dineout-value"><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span class="dineout-menu-field"><span class="dineout-value">Overall: I felt my money was well spent for this meal. The service was good and the dishes were delivered at good timely intervals. The food quality matches the price.</span></span></span><br />

I looked forward to trying different dishes on the menu. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted, and taken to our spacious seats. The entire restaurant definitely feels upscale due to the design and lighting. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">We were handed warm towels by the waitress before the meal began, very thoughtful. Being quite a large party, we ordered lots of food :)</span><br />

I did not think there was too much frying batter, I think it was just right. It was a joy to bite into each piece. </span><br />

The rectangle-shaped roll was very interesting for me. The rice used was like sticky rice which was pretty cool. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The other roll tasted similar to a California roll to me, there was crab inside but what made it different was the piece of fish on top of the roll. I didn't think this roll was that special; the rectangle-shaped roll was awesome though!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH4nluI17xwTDYddnlRCl7xdrY9sW__0xK9nsDtxGWBnsr6OAiyVbVn3jHUE6TvZM3JQsF4tsR3GhLJAOuLNVzR5xc037c5SDVmArmTdO730PH6FhFXhG26a2YCSC8f9yDZL0px1oL4mY/s1600/IMG_0256.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH4nluI17xwTDYddnlRCl7xdrY9sW__0xK9nsDtxGWBnsr6OAiyVbVn3jHUE6TvZM3JQsF4tsR3GhLJAOuLNVzR5xc037c5SDVmArmTdO730PH6FhFXhG26a2YCSC8f9yDZL0px1oL4mY/s320/IMG_0256.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">We also got the <b>Tuna Tataki</b>. I would say this is one of the best foods I've had in a long long time. The "inner portion" of the tuna was cool, while the "outer ring" of the tuna was harder and had a "smoked" taste. That mixture of hot and cold in perfectly cut slices was great. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6SwBCxWMr1P_gRd3uHuVCEvsnA4hKPNikV8dDVMaKZe6F8b1_XlvekdlzTiCi7dgeidg5TvSU0E46OlDjnsyq7eMbQ_T1uKX5A5v2tA7jKBWnbrFlAJLqHi7tgE-E2I0QUZC7fdZNDMQ/s1600/IMG_0262.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6SwBCxWMr1P_gRd3uHuVCEvsnA4hKPNikV8dDVMaKZe6F8b1_XlvekdlzTiCi7dgeidg5TvSU0E46OlDjnsyq7eMbQ_T1uKX5A5v2tA7jKBWnbrFlAJLqHi7tgE-E2I0QUZC7fdZNDMQ/s320/IMG_0262.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The next dish was the <b>Kakuni Scallop</b>. The scallops of this dish were the best prepared scallops I've ever had in my life. It was just the perfect texture, temperature, freshness. The pork however was very average I thought, I thought it to be a little too "tough", I much prefer the Chinese style preparation of this meat. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwm7K_h5-d326miO3KVQUbpt9wX-8lDMwthRVMhOYBbN8xckiypeSX_4c43rkf8FjL1LoMuQnRiUXJklgXSUGvbmt-yIJR-cJpL-0bhpyirKUOvAY8bKlPSEtdcsxk-ZhSBJofGGHEvo/s1600/IMG_0270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwm7K_h5-d326miO3KVQUbpt9wX-8lDMwthRVMhOYBbN8xckiypeSX_4c43rkf8FjL1LoMuQnRiUXJklgXSUGvbmt-yIJR-cJpL-0bhpyirKUOvAY8bKlPSEtdcsxk-ZhSBJofGGHEvo/s320/IMG_0270.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">Next was the <b>Chicken Karaage</b>. I thought this was a wonderful value. The size of this dish for the price was excellent. These are like chicken nuggets, there are no bones and it is all organic chicken meat. The moment I bit into the chicken, I was impressed. The karaage just crumbles easily inside your mouth, delivering a salivating taste...</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6SIajkUyWhh94_tpl17lvwKXTMBQqKqpBAZ5YiFAfYeb1sq1hEW8B6y9cZmGP_b5v1aCd9TA4jnkCGuF3O_kchE3yrRsFwGmgbe-EESq8flGn8cv9kAa_2LXQI-YKvG8ccT7geZW60JI/s1600/IMG_0274.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6SIajkUyWhh94_tpl17lvwKXTMBQqKqpBAZ5YiFAfYeb1sq1hEW8B6y9cZmGP_b5v1aCd9TA4jnkCGuF3O_kchE3yrRsFwGmgbe-EESq8flGn8cv9kAa_2LXQI-YKvG8ccT7geZW60JI/s320/IMG_0274.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">Next is the <b>Sablefish</b>. My favourite part about this was the fish skin. It was crispy and delicious. The fish itself was also better than what I've had at other restaurants. It did break apart too easily and had a smooth texture.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOjQYa_FoHTbDseJA6iDK8H1wZGZReseTku3MRkGZWcG103vejMU5YjQXi_IDLyYYq6l6CCrWHicI2b6PAEQqgfIGxx-gX_IlK0gj4k1bIFHqtI5L0B1um8n2Gb3oA47PSX7XbRltb1eo/s1600/IMG_0282.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOjQYa_FoHTbDseJA6iDK8H1wZGZReseTku3MRkGZWcG103vejMU5YjQXi_IDLyYYq6l6CCrWHicI2b6PAEQqgfIGxx-gX_IlK0gj4k1bIFHqtI5L0B1um8n2Gb3oA47PSX7XbRltb1eo/s320/IMG_0282.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">This one was the <b>Bavette Steak</b>. There was some miso on the plate to dip the steak into. This one was good as the steak was delicious, but I nothing really popped out at me for this dish.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbY2o_fFM5pK0mRvj2XNCF1_JZ52gPOTFlRo4qeDh7ACIb_Ro9aMNtMv3YJkK5Sd9fG5yfpGjIxRA8E-HR-LMJZao4X58iKDtXa_nlylWPlOvBz9zwNFkRjrBDJdCefeda43hEgn6IgIg/s1600/IMG_0287.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbY2o_fFM5pK0mRvj2XNCF1_JZ52gPOTFlRo4qeDh7ACIb_Ro9aMNtMv3YJkK5Sd9fG5yfpGjIxRA8E-HR-LMJZao4X58iKDtXa_nlylWPlOvBz9zwNFkRjrBDJdCefeda43hEgn6IgIg/s320/IMG_0287.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">For our last dish before desserts, we got the <b>Kani Pasta</b>. This was prepared using dungeness crab. I loved the taste of this dish, it reminded me of the Chinese-style preparation of crab using milk cream. The pasta itself was pretty good as well.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We ordered three desserts, the <b>Chocolate Cake, Cheesecake, and the Polenta Cake</b>. My favourites were the chocolate cake and cheesecake. The chocolate cake just explodes in chocolate when you bite into it. While the cheesecake was just, good. </span><br />

One of my friends suggested getting some good Indian food. So we organized an outing at Saravanaa Bhavan on his recommendation. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTXTP1tRJrYR4iEbc3GoTZfqCuqOdlEj93ybkwhk8EyuEn4c5btqo3JqpHUGKk7vTwQktFgRpS3AKzELlYQtvcmjQs8NDOmV1WE1dgZWbndMuxjCywmATB0p16QS9MoZuervxwhkCuZXE/s1600/IMG_2941.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTXTP1tRJrYR4iEbc3GoTZfqCuqOdlEj93ybkwhk8EyuEn4c5btqo3JqpHUGKk7vTwQktFgRpS3AKzELlYQtvcmjQs8NDOmV1WE1dgZWbndMuxjCywmATB0p16QS9MoZuervxwhkCuZXE/s400/IMG_2941.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">Before arriving, I did not know they only had vegetarian menu! I thought this was going to be bad haha because I am a carnivore. Also, I was recovering from a cold today so did not want to eat anything too spicy or deep-fried. However, I was so hungry that I could eat anything, and I believed my friend when he said the food would be good!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">One of my favourite foods is potato, so I decided on the <b>Rava Masala Dosa $8.50 </b>(Cream of wheat & rice crepe stuffed with spicy potatoes & onions)</span>. <span style="font-size: large;">The wait for the food was a little long, but all my friends waited until everyone's food was here, awesome!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZfHdjqpE4wAvSTLe5Cv9qGiLhQv_ISh8AnlYKOEg4X8wtCCKsJjzegJg_n20LN_SZn7sURsAPkEE7yIsXPGSezxcdBzb56VwqVa7_UZ9wfXT3Z7Su01T09VKK0oq1B0vNi-26zOOU5rM/s1600/IMG_2939.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZfHdjqpE4wAvSTLe5Cv9qGiLhQv_ISh8AnlYKOEg4X8wtCCKsJjzegJg_n20LN_SZn7sURsAPkEE7yIsXPGSezxcdBzb56VwqVa7_UZ9wfXT3Z7Su01T09VKK0oq1B0vNi-26zOOU5rM/s400/IMG_2939.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">My food finally arrived! This is definitely a new type of presentation for me, the food arrived in a futuristic metal tray! I tried the sauces on the side with my fork and they were all very good. I did not really use much of the sauces after because I did not want to eat anything spicy. The crepe itself was delicious! The whole thing is very crispy and thin, yet not too hard. The stuffing of spicy potatoes and onions was hot (temperature-wise) and not too spicy. I really liked it, it was just the right level of saltiness. In the end, that's all I had and it was enough to make me full even though I was super hungry before.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: An Indian restaurant I would come back to if I am going for Indian food with friends. </span><br />

After doing some bowling at Revs in Burnaby, I asked my friends which restaurant they recommend as they live in the area! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">They decided on Hong Sushi on Hastings. I was a bit skeptical on the cleanliness on the place since it's on Hastings, but I was positively surprised. Hong is mostly does take-out sushi orders and there are only two tables inside. Even though the inside did not have much decoration, it felt clean and comfortable. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I was having a hard time picking what to eat, so decided to get the one that most people get because it's the best value: <b>Sushi Special</b> which included salmon maki, California roll, and yam roll, along with a miso soup. My friend remarked that this place gets crazy during lunch hour once school starts because of its proximity to a secondary school.</span> <br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My friend also got the sushi special lol</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The food was delivered promptly and there was complimentary tea. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyKtOTcRZwETxLt4n4hkGghLglFCENy6X8g3qT_dibQcPx-4lFeINfzQgXkWfkrOTmDYW2Nn8dv6y6ueDQO_HcBNt3BNTKAd_oyQ8XETn0P1bJ1MdXrIKpGOaT_Xo-voVjM2zMTUDsIBQ/s1600/IMG_2925.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyKtOTcRZwETxLt4n4hkGghLglFCENy6X8g3qT_dibQcPx-4lFeINfzQgXkWfkrOTmDYW2Nn8dv6y6ueDQO_HcBNt3BNTKAd_oyQ8XETn0P1bJ1MdXrIKpGOaT_Xo-voVjM2zMTUDsIBQ/s400/IMG_2925.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">Appearance-wise, I was really impressed because this was a really cheap price but I really liked the neatness presentation of the rolls. This looks a lot better than other places with similar sushi specials.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The Salmon Maki were excellent, the salmon pieces were pretty big for being a maki, and it tasted fresh.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> The California roll were one of the best I've had in these type of set lunches. The imitation crab was cold and tasted fresh. The avocado was also fresh.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">My favourite was probably the yam roll because it was still crispy. I've had yam roll at other restaurants where it just tastes soggy. But here, it came warm and crispy which I really liked.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: The food is really good for a take-out place. I'd be interested to try out their others items but since I do not live in the area, probably won't have much opportunity. </span><br />

I usually like this type of Asian food.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I had a look at the lunch menu online and already decided on what to get for myself :) Upon entering the restaurant, I was impressed with the interior. It was a nicely decorated setting.</span><br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shrimp Cake and Fish Cake</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-size: large;">The fish and shrimp cakes along with some other snacks could be added for a few dollars with a lunch item. I found both the deep-fried cakes to be excellent. The whole cake itself is almost all the meat itself. They also came hot!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlAJKcvNB-Dv6wq5Uq4RSwcJ7lrGbnelhwz_NzL-QwsXEmLzwEOqrV9S0fulrfqdmB28nsLJhzptMePazNj-7UT0nXaJ72kMVgR7rgPNPPSsk2kyBm7KTS41vI1yiuu00CmeTSkIHJxQ/s1600/IMG_0095.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlAJKcvNB-Dv6wq5Uq4RSwcJ7lrGbnelhwz_NzL-QwsXEmLzwEOqrV9S0fulrfqdmB28nsLJhzptMePazNj-7UT0nXaJ72kMVgR7rgPNPPSsk2kyBm7KTS41vI1yiuu00CmeTSkIHJxQ/s320/IMG_0095.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> If I remember correctly, the second item was the Singapore Laksa with Grilled Chicken, I only had a piece of the pork chops, and it was very good; the taste of the chicken was excellent, it definitely felt that a lot of "firepower" was used to cook it.</span><br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice $11.95</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-size: large;">Next, was the <b>Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice</b>. I actually wanted to get the Pad Thai (maybe next time) but we ordered the wrong item... The fried rice was excellent as well, the seafood ingredients were fresh, and I liked that there wasn't any rice sticking together or anything... It could have been fried more, but I felt it was good enough.</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Beef fillet with egg on rice $10.50</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-size: large;">Lastly, we got the <b>Beef fillet with egg on rice</b>, the presentation was really nice. What was special about this one was that the beef was really good; it's easily the best tasting beef I've had in a while. I think it was the combination of the sauces and oils used to prepare it. Cutting the egg yolk into the rice was also a satisfying feeling.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I liked this restaurant, want to try for dinner later.</span><br />

I really liked the potatoes; I basically like any type of mashed potatoes... yum... At first, I ate each piece as I cut it. At first I expected something like Guu, but it's actually really different. Almost all the food on the menu are grilled skewers. It is a little pricey, but the food quality is top... This is one of the better foods I've ever had... Here's some pictures of some of the skewers I had. Each one is ~$2. The set at the bottom was $8.20.</span><br />

I thought the service was good, the waitresses are very attentive.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I decided to try their famous <b>Beef Roll</b> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Z3hF6FWYVZWx2I_jy-v0Vr5iQdPpzB5BnqB4YvMc9zayqn2Sz1pDI8Y37_I-slfrcVydUdU9GHRajN7dJ3fFJ7orjms7uFPa0NlX7jbFha5jvelFMusGYBF4ixeRYuIxxtw-VnK8Lcw/s1600/IMG_2773.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Z3hF6FWYVZWx2I_jy-v0Vr5iQdPpzB5BnqB4YvMc9zayqn2Sz1pDI8Y37_I-slfrcVydUdU9GHRajN7dJ3fFJ7orjms7uFPa0NlX7jbFha5jvelFMusGYBF4ixeRYuIxxtw-VnK8Lcw/s320/IMG_2773.JPG" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I must say, this beef roll probably deserves the hype. They put salty beef inside a wrap similar to those cha siu rolls you get at Chinese bakeries. The rolls are pretty big, and they are bigger than they look in this picture. I actually couldn't finish them because they are oily, so I took one for take out. I got really hungry in the late afternoon, so I had the leftover roll cold, it was even more delicious, maybe because I was starving... </span><br />

I was disappointed with this one. It just tasted like those types of food where it's quantity over quality. The broth I found unnecessarily too salty. The pork chops were really difficult to bite apart, there was not enough actual meat in the deep fried pork chops, but a lot of the frying batter. The noodles themselves I didn't find anything special.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: It's good if you want to get full, but the noodles I did not really like.</span><br />

I haven't been to here in ages and back then, it was only for lunch dim sum. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I was excited to try some Shanghainese dinner dishes. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We started off with an appetizer consisting of drunken chicken and sweet fish. I don't know the actual names of these dishes so I'm just going by description haha</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3en7fRiCGHBkUjVQWejbw1jf0wP3dIG455zvBFYYhoNaJW1aKZ80nOastiT-a7AhpP-vW3jorScNB_p4dWPVJcObUkevCdH6JB2URk72uu6gr9REImXLDYntxviU71fNSBc2ptHj5WNc/s1600/IMG_2395.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3en7fRiCGHBkUjVQWejbw1jf0wP3dIG455zvBFYYhoNaJW1aKZ80nOastiT-a7AhpP-vW3jorScNB_p4dWPVJcObUkevCdH6JB2URk72uu6gr9REImXLDYntxviU71fNSBc2ptHj5WNc/s320/IMG_2395.JPG" width="320" /></a> </div><span style="font-size: large;">I thought this dish was good. It is a cold dish, you could really taste the slight alcohol taste on the chicken</span>. <span style="font-size: large;">The texture of the meat was good, it wasn't overly soft or hard. I didn't have much of the fish, but it was okay, it's just a little weird if you haven't had this type of dish before because I actually ate some of the small bones.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We ordered four main dishes.</span><br />

</tbody></table><span style="font-size: large;">I won't comment on the Sweet and Sour Pork because it tasted the same as in any restaurant, but it's still good. The fried duck was definitely the most interesting dish I had. I have never had duck that was prepared this way in my life. I absolutely loved it. It was a little salty but I felt it enhanced the deliciousness. The skin was crispy. It is a nice detour from the usual Chinese Duck that I usually have. <br />
<br />
I have tried that dish with the cream shrimp a few times at other restaurants. I love the dish... I love how the shrimp is so bouncy when you bite into it... and the taste that the cream has added to it.<br />
<br />
The egg-white with crab is also one of my favourite dishes. It was great for eating with a bowl of rice :)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I want to eat here again.</span><br />

Only way to be successful is to also attract the customers who are not Asian. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Chef Hung Taiwanese Noodle can be found worldwide. Their first store in Metro Vancouver was in Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. I have not been to that particular store because I've read horrible reviews. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDqY0ptvH8Bd_pzie1WQB_dCAuVB6Cq-KFJ076ImS7FUtXyvxzIY_lgUs8dLNGsgRuxe9ffWYxrvecBfn_oVyyMufVJQZC2qgc1nJgsnkuDwhQe4vSP_BmP0o5UT12L7K-uAmmBwLsunE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDqY0ptvH8Bd_pzie1WQB_dCAuVB6Cq-KFJ076ImS7FUtXyvxzIY_lgUs8dLNGsgRuxe9ffWYxrvecBfn_oVyyMufVJQZC2qgc1nJgsnkuDwhQe4vSP_BmP0o5UT12L7K-uAmmBwLsunE/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">When I heard in the radio that Chef Hung is opening in West Vancouver. I was positively surprised and excited to try it. Coming in to the restaurant, I immediately noticed how nice the interior was.</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Champion Beef Brisket, Tendon & Tripe with Noodle in Soup</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <span style="font-size: large;">I absolutely loved both the noodles. But I definitely preferred the Award-Winning Beef Shank, Tendon, & Tripe because the slightly spicy soup for that bowl of noodle was so good that I am drooling as I am typing this... The beef quality was great for both bowls, there isn't any hard to chew beef brisket or anything like that here... I prefer the thick noodles because I think it offers more to chew on and it's quite chewy, but quantity wise, I think there are more noodles were it's thinner...</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I'll definitely be back for the food, but only once in a while because it isn't cheap.</span><br />

Over the years, I've always seen people lined up outside the restaurant. I was here today for a farewell lunch to one of my friends who is leaving Canada.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We ended up waiting close to a hour because we were a large group, so by the time we got into the restaurant, everyone was starving.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I decided to get the <b>Linguine Con Salmone Affumicato $12.50 with dill cream sauce</b> (smoked salmon in a dill cream sauce), I actually had no idea what dill cream was..., but thankfully I liked the sauce when the pasta came. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />

I was not disappointed. I managed to finish the whole plate, but I was literally stuffed after...</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">On the actual pasta itself, I though it was pretty good, I liked the sauce and the smoked salmon bits still had their salmon taste. One thing I would have liked is if it wasn't as salty.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I think this is a good place to stuff yourself if there's no lineup, otherwise I'm not sure if the wait is worth it...</span><br />

Seeing them open on Marine Drive a few months ago, I've always wanted to give them a try to see how the food is.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed they have made some renovations since a fire destroyed the old Yuko Maki that use to be at this location. The lighting is dim and creates a cozy atmosphere.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We were given the lunch specials menu, and I realized that they mainly serve Singapore-Malaysian-Thai (SMT) dishes. I decided to try the <b>Thai Fried Rice</b> because I can not handle very spicy dishes. I did not know that Thai Fried Rice is spicy ;(</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR3i-4BKI-E1Wo9E7e1xb9EEPCKLiJhtekHIQZ3Kf6S6XwhyLjYsBt6xv32otehRI321vBr_Pk6tBm_ZCDHLzKFzeqsIWiQTUasj5r_brruNuW4dd5BtmhgfazjpUZ1RJuzO0DYhDTO2w/s1600/IMG_2859%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR3i-4BKI-E1Wo9E7e1xb9EEPCKLiJhtekHIQZ3Kf6S6XwhyLjYsBt6xv32otehRI321vBr_Pk6tBm_ZCDHLzKFzeqsIWiQTUasj5r_brruNuW4dd5BtmhgfazjpUZ1RJuzO0DYhDTO2w/s320/IMG_2859%255B1%255D.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">All their lunch specials come with either salad or wonton soup. I got the wonton soup, it exceeded my expectations, I almost drank the whole bowl of soup even though I know the salt probably isn't the best for my health haha. The wontons tasted good and the meat was fresh I think.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Q-OO-eXEdX8m4CETjtnI-yK7LbpoNr75SS6vuppXfuszHoF8xgYoLannBoGNoXa9HblY3LpNxfYIuU1UmTIPz-TFI5vWFUv6oyilfdcUyloJuruUlKjeSwTxDnG3kl0BiD7niegVhl4/s1600/IMG_2860%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Q-OO-eXEdX8m4CETjtnI-yK7LbpoNr75SS6vuppXfuszHoF8xgYoLannBoGNoXa9HblY3LpNxfYIuU1UmTIPz-TFI5vWFUv6oyilfdcUyloJuruUlKjeSwTxDnG3kl0BiD7niegVhl4/s320/IMG_2860%255B1%255D.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">All the lunch specials also come with a spring roll. Mine wasn't hot, but it was still crispy which is definitely the most important. Besides the not so optimal temperature, it is good otherwise.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">For the fried rice itself, I have not had Thai fried rice before, it is definitely a different experience than regular Chinese fried rice. The ingredients they used: BBQ pork, peas, carrots, etc. tasted good to me. Too bad I'm not very good with spicy stuff. But I still liked it okay.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj538ssAfjQZYFsAiFJPtpgB9edAiN9TcpUjWZg3-Edv5Yn9_BuSRFEa9l3EOG0vM1JmTKAlBFT3-usFqsTHlaax0S0koQ_nsw-QYsieTNwRKL61Wf1p0xHLAwgAtxcRV0FUlCpjOObpvg/s1600/IMG_2861%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br />
</a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: The restaurant appears to be family-run. The waitress was very friendly. We were given the wrong dish because they mixed up the order, but they offered to replace the dish with the correct one with no hesitation. I liked this. I will come back here during dinner to try their dinner menu and maybe their version of the Pad Thai.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So we stumbled down the street and my friend suggested this place which has a rather interesting "hole-in-the-street" entrance. The restaurant is underground. Nowadays, I do not really care what I eat so I did not mind trying new restaurants.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Inside, we were greeted by the enthusiastic manager in a multitude of languages including Korean and Japanese, my friends and I thought this was quite funny.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I don't know why, but I've been having a sashimi craving these days, so I decided to get something I don't usually get: <b>Salmon and Tuna Sashimi $11.95 </b>and a <b>Chopped Scallop Roll $4.95. </b>I felt these prices were okay because the place looked pretty run down, but it felt comfortable. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsMb4VmM9b45PdWvwyEeKPOW-nntjNJD3ZEUXABLBUThSYkJ9jJwI5UoqFaYY2l2YPVm89J_DCptiQOfeoja-cqzyISYXdEpq5TVVNXGugGQgP-7uDhIC9SYpY9L17qqU1YLAXeZ9GfB8/s1600/IMG_2876%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsMb4VmM9b45PdWvwyEeKPOW-nntjNJD3ZEUXABLBUThSYkJ9jJwI5UoqFaYY2l2YPVm89J_DCptiQOfeoja-cqzyISYXdEpq5TVVNXGugGQgP-7uDhIC9SYpY9L17qqU1YLAXeZ9GfB8/s400/IMG_2876%255B1%255D.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;">I ended up liking both items that I ordered. The sashimi was fresh in my opinion. I know that some people don't like the sashimi were it feels like it's just taken out of the freezer, but honestly I could not tell, and I love when sashimi is ice cold.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The chopped scallop roll was the standard fare, nothing special, nothing bad.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Something to note, when paying the bill, they charged me extra $2 for "wild salmon" when I did not ask for it at all. Thankfully they returned the money after I asked about it, otherwise I would have gotten extremely annoyed.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: Decent restaurant.</span><br />

I wanted to try the new NOA Pan-Asian restaurant, but my friends wanted sushi. So I went along with them...</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We ended up at a new restaurant for all of us.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I read some reviews on Urbanspoon.com that the service was bad, I did not encounter this, I felt they were quite acceptable (filled up tea, prompt, polite) for this type of restaurant.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I was quite hungry after the long walk, so decided to go with the <b>Deluxe Bento Box</b> <b>$17.95</b>.<b> </b>It is a little bit pricey in my opinion versus other restaurants, so I was really hoping it would not suck!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2mobioIL83LBu_qpWv6A9APi8HsprkK2xtPL-0Myl0w9Dc5A1WRVqS3q9cFRX9PLOblaZ9g5loBfJ-l0QjTi4avo-rbKpI4WU-a24tbmOOD2Hr6fNCCAzihGGPSo15Kq8GZv5zRfa1qY/s1600/IMG_2887%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2mobioIL83LBu_qpWv6A9APi8HsprkK2xtPL-0Myl0w9Dc5A1WRVqS3q9cFRX9PLOblaZ9g5loBfJ-l0QjTi4avo-rbKpI4WU-a24tbmOOD2Hr6fNCCAzihGGPSo15Kq8GZv5zRfa1qY/s400/IMG_2887%255B1%255D.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">The bento box arrived and the presentation was quite nice. All the food items were neatly placed in the tray and the miso soup came separately. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I really enjoyed the Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, I actually like it better when it's freezing cold. The chicken teriyaki, tempura, California rolls, Dynamite rolls were the standard fare as at other restaurants so not much comment, decent food.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I would not mind returning and trying some of their 10th anniversary special rolls.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />

On my way, I travel by Vancouver City Centre Canada Line Station; I remembered seeing an interesting street vendor a few days ago, so I wanted to try them today. I got there around 11, and had to wait a few minutes for them to be ready for customers.<br />

It was easy picking what to eat at this food stall, they only serve one item of food, the <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Brass Chicken Sandwich $6.25 (Beer brined rotisserie chicken in gravy, on a buttermilk bun, topped with crispy onions) 3/5</b><span style="font-size: small;">. The sandwich came wrapped in a foil wrap and was ready quickly after ordering. </span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">This was definitely something new for me, the flavor was really unique. I think it was the beer brined chicken and gravy that made that taste. I didn't really especially like or dislike it, but it was alright, something new. I liked the crispy onions that topped the sandwich, they were actually crispy; I also liked how the onion taste was overridden because I don't like onions that much. The rotisserie chicken was decent, but I found the texture a little rough; however, there was a piece of chicken that tasted extremely delicious because there was some fat on it. The chicken was very moist because of the gravy, this is pretty yummy, but again, I did not really like the texture. </span></span>The sandwich bun was decent, it wasn't overly toasted or overly soft. One of my gripes is that I wish the sandwich would come much hotter. It was only slightly warm, I felt it would have been much more delicious if it came hot.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: magenta;"><span style="font-size: large;">Overall: I do not think I'll try this specific sandwich again, but I like their ideas of food, so when they have something new, I'll definitely try it! </span></div><br />

I wanted some place close by, so I suggested we head to Motomachi Shokudo for some ramen, since one of my buddies also wanted ramen. I had been here once before, and had the Dark Ramen, which was pretty good, I wondered if this time would be equally as good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Xdk2P-_IwQaW-6O_qF5BenXLQpZxpFCxvGR8VXzWbYpRFiwqE5AKWXn8KvHS_VFZUiS93K0tT7z1LnslYWSpwTdc7ivpsU3Pm8k07qKQmCghTh_jcEAvJJJUC7izCTkCL5Jh712euPQ/s1600/IMG_1919.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Xdk2P-_IwQaW-6O_qF5BenXLQpZxpFCxvGR8VXzWbYpRFiwqE5AKWXn8KvHS_VFZUiS93K0tT7z1LnslYWSpwTdc7ivpsU3Pm8k07qKQmCghTh_jcEAvJJJUC7izCTkCL5Jh712euPQ/s400/IMG_1919.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
As it was pretty late in the afternoon, I was starving, so decided to also get a <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Gyoza 3.5/5</b></span>. Unfortunately, my coworkers did not want any so I had to eat all four gyozas myself. My first impression was, why were there so many black burnt bits on the gyozas; I think this is pretty unhealthy and a little overcooked. Otherwise, the fried part of the gyoza wrap was crispy, this is a good sign. The contents inside was pretty good and had a mix of meat and vegetable. I would have liked if the gyoza came a little hotter.<br />

As I already tried the Dark ramen last time, I decided to try the <b><span style="font-size: large;">Shio Ramen $8.95 3.5/5</span></b>. On first impression, it looked pretty good. I was disappointed that there was only half an egg, I sort of expected a full egg (egg is my favourite :) ). My favourite part about the ramen was the soup. It wasn't too fat and thick, I sort of preferred this type of soup compared to those ones served in Kintaro Ramen next door. Besides the soup, I also really enjoyed the one piece of BBQ pork, it was a perfect mix of fat and leanness. After tasting the pork, I regretted not going for the Extra BBQ Pork version for another 2 dollars. For the ramen noodles themselves, that was the part I did not really enjoy, I felt the noodles were a little too thin, I prefer thicker noodles like those at Kintaro, Benkei, or Ramen Sanpachi. But it was still alright nonetheless, and the quantity of noodles was good. I just wish there was at least one more slice of BBQ pork though.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: magenta;">Overall: It's pretty similar to other ramen places, but I prefer this one over Kintaro because I can actually eat in a relaxing way. I prefer Ramen Sanpachi over </span></span><span style="color: magenta; font-size: large;">this one</span><span style="color: magenta;">.</span><br />

Saw an ad in the Klip Magazine about the August special that Ramen Sanpachi on Broadway was having. Either a Tan Tan Men or Cold Ramen for the bargain price of $5.95! Regular price is $8.95. I've never been to Ramen Sanpachi before and I've never had Tan Tan Men before; I believe it is the Japanese version of Dan Dan Noodles, a Sichuan specialty from China. I was the first customer for their lunch hour. Entering the restaurant, I was greeted warmly by two friendly waitresses, and I was seated beside the window in a huge table which was very comfortable. From what I saw, the restaurant looks quite new and is also quite spacious, good job on the construction. I already knew what I was going to order. The food came quickly thankfully as I was sort of in a rush.<br />

The <b><span style="font-size: large;">Tan Tan Men $5.95 4/5</span></b> is Ramen in a reddish, spicy chilli and sesame soup, containing minced pork, garnished with chopped scallion<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scallion" title="Scallion"></a> and chili and topped with the likes of spinach or Chinese cabbage (chingensai). The soup base was excellent, unfortunately, I am not a big spicy eater, but I could taste that it was good, I just did not have that much because it was a little too spicy for me. My favourite part was the egg, the yolk was sort of half solid, and I loved it. The minced pork were fresh and properly minced, ie. not too big pieces. The ramen noodles themselves were again excellent, very nice to slurp them into the mouth because of their smoothness and the easiness to chew them apart.<br />

I was impressed with the portions given for this special offer. I thought that they'd make the portions smaller because of the special, but the portion was huge and all in all, this is a great deal for great food.<br />

Located near the King Edward Canada Line Station, Corner 23 is at a convenient location for public transit users such as myself. I have always wanted to try it since it opened because I always notice that it is very busy with people throughout the day. Furthermore, I've always had an interest in Taiwanese food. Today, I came with two friends who were new to Asian cuisines, especially something like Taiwanese food, so I hoped the food would be good because I was the one that recommended we go here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBKG4B2f9fMMySXB94iq3N9tg8ZfV0ooa4TrrK6urtG0u8p_jNVSyVtts9EtBHQcAfdX1jiYCrC_lQVjvRi2vxdiVOI94DISW03Rl5zFSqnZzHVrQVAn7O2-eb5Fwftmb9WQspMWW8eKw/s1600/DSC02631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBKG4B2f9fMMySXB94iq3N9tg8ZfV0ooa4TrrK6urtG0u8p_jNVSyVtts9EtBHQcAfdX1jiYCrC_lQVjvRi2vxdiVOI94DISW03Rl5zFSqnZzHVrQVAn7O2-eb5Fwftmb9WQspMWW8eKw/s320/DSC02631.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by the waitress and sat at a spacious table. It was around 5pm, but the restaurant was already busy. The interior was quite nicely decorated and the restaurant environment was comfortable overall. I was just recovering from a bad cough so I didn't go for any drinks, just stayed with the complementary tea. The menu was quite vast and there were many options; there is bound to be something that you like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqGK28M41LFGzPBV9a8kyAipc-ZBe1WhrQlpAb1jAZbddhYga2DDW6wGHwhpqoIyBhT0k8070OFq5YcaNhpHZhr5h1xlChGjESdU155LdPnfmVqyc7ThBH9kFOxEikiyd35sTuQPEnUg/s1600/DSC02643.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqGK28M41LFGzPBV9a8kyAipc-ZBe1WhrQlpAb1jAZbddhYga2DDW6wGHwhpqoIyBhT0k8070OFq5YcaNhpHZhr5h1xlChGjESdU155LdPnfmVqyc7ThBH9kFOxEikiyd35sTuQPEnUg/s320/DSC02643.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Since we had a party of 3, we each got a meal and I was feeling a bit ambitious, so I also opted for an appetizer to share with the others. I ordered the <b><span style="font-size: large;">Taiwanese Style Pork Sausage with Rice $7.75 4/5</span> </b>because I could not get any of the deep-fried or spicy dishes, I decided to go with something I've had before at other Taiwanese restaurants.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqGK28M41LFGzPBV9a8kyAipc-ZBe1WhrQlpAb1jAZbddhYga2DDW6wGHwhpqoIyBhT0k8070OFq5YcaNhpHZhr5h1xlChGjESdU155LdPnfmVqyc7ThBH9kFOxEikiyd35sTuQPEnUg/s1600/DSC02643.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqGK28M41LFGzPBV9a8kyAipc-ZBe1WhrQlpAb1jAZbddhYga2DDW6wGHwhpqoIyBhT0k8070OFq5YcaNhpHZhr5h1xlChGjESdU155LdPnfmVqyc7ThBH9kFOxEikiyd35sTuQPEnUg/s400/DSC02643.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I was not disappointed. The set also came with three side dishes: cucumbers, some vegetable that I don't know what it is called, and corn. These side dishes were served warm, and not cold, as I first expected. They went well with the huge bowl of rice. The Taiwanese sausages were also excellent, they were not too salty or too hard. The portion was also, in my opinion, great for the price.<br />
<br />
The appetizer we got was the <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Marinated Ground Pork Sauce on Rice $4.75 4/5</b></span>, I wanted to try something that was new for me. I really didn't know what to expect. I only thought that it'd be a very small bowl of rice because it is an appetizer. Boy was I surprised!<br />

This to me was more like a meal than a appetizer. The bowl was huge and there was lots of pork. My friends who have never had a marinated egg before remarked that it was quite delicious. The sauce that accompanied the rice made the rice a joy, the sauce was very delicious. The pork itself also tasted fresh. Excellent dish.<br />
<br />
<br />
My friends opted for the <b><span style="font-size: large;">Curry Chicken on rice $7.75</span> </b>and the <b><span style="font-size: large;">Egg Plant & Shredded Pork in Hot Garlic Sauce with Rice $7.50</span>. </b>Friend who had the Curry Chicken has never had Curry Chicken other than Traditional Indian Curry Chicken before, he said that the Taiwanese Curry Chicken was different, but still very good. Although he could not handle the spicy even though it wasn't very spicy, just his taste buds were weak.<br />

<span style="color: magenta; font-size: large;">Overall: I'll be back since it is so close to UBC and also convenient with the Canada Line. The food is good. </span><br />

I have not been here in ages. I remember coming here with my grandfather a long time ago for dim sum. It more or less looked the same; but I noticed they refurbished the interior a little. Unfortunately, a visit to the washroom disappointed me severely. The washroom was old and did not look maintained; definitely a drastic difference from top-end Chinese restaurants in Vancouver.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The service was also horrible. First, they force changed plates for me when I did not want to at all. Second, a few dishes and bowls were dirty; they were not washed properly and food bits could be clearly seen. Third, when the plates should have been changed (ie. after eating lobster), they were not changed. Fourth, the beverages, coke and sprite, were refilled once or twice in the entire dinner, and we had to call them to. Fifth, spinner thing on the table was dirty from the previous dishes as we ate our meal, not once was it wiped for us. Sixth, staff kept pushing big carts and big bins through the dining area to the other parts of the restaurant. Seventh, we had just had the fried rice, so we were given bowls; now it is assumed that bowls are used to eat the rice as this is common practice in every other Chinese restaurant I have been to. After we were done the rice, the waitress brought the desert (an almond soup), the waitress then rudely exclaimed in Cantonese "why would you use the bowls for the rice" We were absolutely appalled. One of the managers then took over but did not over any apologies at all, merely stating overcapacity as the reason to their rudeness. This is the most ridiculous service I have experienced in a long time. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Find myself visiting the wonderful Crystal Mall quite often these days, found myself here in the lunch hour and wanted to grab a quick lunch as I was hurrying to an appointment. With so many choices, again I had a hard decision in choosing what to eat. <span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: magenta;">Overall: Another success inside the Crystal Mall food court, I imagine this Beef Noodle would be even better in the cold winter of Vancouver because it'd warm you in seconds and the feeling will be so good. I will be back at the food court for more food :).</span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Wanted to grab a delicious but small snack in Crystal Mall because I was hungry and dinner would be soon anyways, so I just needed something quick and easy to fill my hungry stomach.Wandered around the food court for a few rounds before finally deciding to try the famous Xiao Long Bao at Xu's Wonton House. It was my first time getting this dish at a food court place so I was excited to compare it to the restaurant XLBs. </span><br />

Multiple street vendors set up shop inside Brockton Oval to serve food to hordes of hungry people; I was one of them. I had a hard time picking which vendor to purchase from, but I saw a big lineup at Bun Me Baguette, so I decided to try this one.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I've never had a Baguette before and I had no idea what it is, but I thought it was sort of like Subs at Subway. I personally don't get why so many people like Subway, I don't like it at all. At first, I thought Bun Me Baguette would be similar and I wouldn't like it because it looks like a sub. But boy was I surprised! </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">They had two options only, either BBQ Lemongrass Chicken or Lemongrass Tofu. And they also offered three levels of spiciness for risk takers, brave people, or people who can handle spicy; however, I can not handle spicy that well, so I opted for no spicy. The vendors themselves were Vietnamese (I'm pretty sure they were) so this is definitely authentic Vietnamese Baguette. Here's which one I picked:</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Was looking to get some Donburi (Japanese-style rice bowl) before heading to Stanley Park for the Theatre Under The Stars show, which was quite entertaining by the way, definitely worth checking out in the summer. Today's weather was quite cool and wet for a summer day, I thought a nice bowl of hot donburi would be nice.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I found this restaurant through Urbanspoon, filtering for the restaurants that were most liked by others. Ended up choosing Donburiya. The prices were much cheaper than I expected as this is a Japanese fast-food style place; however, the seating was quite comfortable and the staff were friendly. Ordering food is like ordering at McDonalds where you place the order at the counter, however, the food is delivered to you by the staff. Self-serve free ice water is provided as well as some condiments.</span><br />

<li>Charred taste (did not appear black) through out the entire rice bowl; this taste was just delicious and I remembered it for several hours after the dinner because it was so tasty</li>
<li>The sauce they used was spread out through the entire rice bowl, other places I've been to usually just have all the Donburi ingredients on the top, and then tasteless rice on the bottom; however, the Yakiniku I had today was tasty throughout the whole bowl</li>
<li>The BBQ pork was prepared to just the right level, I really loved that "BBQ" taste</li>
<li>The lettuce vegetable they used combined with the salad sauce also added to the taste of the rice, sort of reminded me of the lettuce and salad combination in McDonalds' burgers</li>
<li>The rice did not stick together or had too much sauce on it, so the rice was not overly softened and retained much of the BBQ taste from the pork = Yummy!</li>
